This place of loss and darkness—we’ve
been here before…in transitional stages, birth, adolescence, school, vocation,
war, marriage, …to death, whether those we love, or ourselves. What gives us
strength, the courage to continue?
One hears on the news that people are
returning to family time, creativity, connection, stories. Past cultures gathered
together in
slow times (winter), those times when story, community, family, played a larger
role: time of rest and replenishment, especially of the spirit.
